2009 Jones Tour of Homes

Sunday was our traditional Jones Tour of Homes for year 2009. For those of you that don't know, we have a family tradition that we do on the second Sunday of December. We go around to a select number of families houses and get to see their Christmas decorations. The year it was my turn to plan the event. For the family gift exchange I choose a dessert exchange. We schedule food at every one's house. We started at Darrin's, went to Sharlene's, then Lynn's, our house for the main course, next to last was Ryan's then we finished up at Mom & Dad's. It's always a full day but we have a good time. Enjoy the slide show. Love you all ~~Mitzi

ATTENTION: DESERTERS

Image
You know who you are............ Just want to let you know that we won 9 - 3 without you. From our team we only had, Ryan, Shawn, Ty, Megan, Tori and myself. Thanks to Tori bringing her boyfriend Rudy and one of her sorority sisters Shandra we had enough to have one sub. Which we used for both the boys and girls. It was a fast game and poor Shawn had a really hard time playing as much as he had to. We had Ty play as keeper. Rudy played in defense and he did a great job. Believe it or not, I even scored a beau-ti-ful goal (pat, pat - me patting myself on the back). It even looked like I knew what I was doing out there. Assist goes to Shawn for a great pass. Megan scored, Shandra scored twice and Ryan took Tori's goal from her. Other than being a hard game it was a lot of fun. At least I thought so. ;) Love you all ~~Mitzi

Couldn't resist....

I was looking for backgrounds for Thanksgiving and came across this one. Since New Moon comes out this month and I'm so excited about it, I just couldn't resist this background. Tori got tickets for the night it comes out but I don't like going to those... too crowded for me. Love you all ~~Mitzi

Here we are : WALMART SHOPPERS Take note of the ever glamorous, chic and VERY expensive garbage bag skirts. We had a lot of fun! Happy trick or treating tomorrow night!!!! Love you all ~~Mitzi

October winding down

I can't believe that we are headed into the last week of October already. Next week is the end of the first quarter of school for Alex. He really is enjoying this school. They gave all the sophomores and juniors the PSAT last week. I'm anxious to see how he did on them. They are having college week this coming week and they had 4 colleges that are coming to the school for a visit. Tori is loving BSU and sorority life. They have so many activities and projects that keep her busy, plus she has made so many new friends. From what she tells me her grades are all A's and B's so I can complain. She had a new boy. I don't think they are officially yet. But she is spending a lot of time with him. I haven't met him but she showed me his picture on FB . He seems to treat her well (so far) that's a plus. There is a minus, he is 22 and a senior. Not to worry, it's Tori and I don't thinks she's gone with a boy for more than two months. I'

Miss coding

Image
A couple of weeks ago the application support team that I used to work for ask me if I had some time in my schedule to help them get some of there issues off of their issues log. I haven't done any coding for 5 years, but I told them I would talk to my boss. She said I could help them out but she was the priority. Well, I actually got to spend some time today getting back into it. I was amazed at how much my fingers remembered. I say that because there were times when I couldn't think of what the commands were but my magic fingers would just type them. Goes to show how amazing our brains are. I'm actually kind of excited about getting to do it again. I didn't realize how much I missed it. Love you all ~~Mitzi

Isn't it Nifty.....

Image
....That Shawna turned 50!!!!! SURPRISE! We didn't even set off the smoke detectors. Fabulous family get-together. It was great to see Bri, Mark and Shelley. Shawna's Mom Rose and Dad Lou made the trip down from Craigmont with Frankie. It was great to see all three of them. Love you all ~~Mitzi

What do you Celebrate ? ? ? ?

Image
As for me, I celebrate family............ I love my family and throughly enjoy spending time with them. Every minute we spend together is precious and valuable. I'm been so blessed to have such a wonderful family. One of the things we like to do is participate in the Women Fitness Celebration walk. We were missing a few this year, like Jessie, Cheryl, Terri, Mom, Justine, Shayna. Hope you can plan to join us next year. We do have fun. Had two little munchkins to help us walk this year, Bentley and Kaid. Traditionally, we meet the men at IHOP after the walk for breakfast. However, Steve was the only one that could join us this year. This is a picture of one side of the table. This is what I celebrate ~ Family. What do you Celebrate? Love you all ~~Mitzi

Family Tradition

Image
Keeping with Family Tradition since 1967, we sold Jones Onion Burgers at the Fair. With Tori not having out of town soccer tournaments I was able to work the Fair this year at the burger booth (last year I did work but at the Shaved ice place). I meant to take my camera out and get a bunch of pictures but I keep forgetting to, so I took a couple with my phone. With the exception of a couple of slow nights I think we had a pretty good fair. I was fun to do it again, but working a week with the family is always an adventure. This is Avery our younest waitess this year. (Sklyer & Jessie's little girl) Love you all ~~Mitzi

Old Picture

Image
I was going though my phone and stumble upon these pictures. Over Memorial day Tori need to help Mom & Dad at Sumpter shaving ice, so I went up with Jessie & Sky for the day. It had been a really nice day up until about 3:00 in the afternoon, when some big black clouds rolled in complete with tunder and lightning but the best part was the downpour. We got a little flooded out. Love you all ~~Mitzi

Back to school

I can't believe that summer is over. It has gone so fast. We just put the Fair to bed for another year. It's always a lot of work, but for some reason it holds some excitement. August has been very eventful for us. Tori turned 18. Holy Moly!!! Now she's an adult. She started classes last week at BSU. I think they went pretty well. She had some quizzes this week already. Got A's on them so that helps with getting to relax a little. She was pretty anxious about starting. We gave her a shopping spree for her birthday, so we went to the mall today. Got her some cute outfits. Alex leaves tomorrow for his retreat to kick off his new school. They go to McCall for three days, then he gets a 5 day weekend before classes starts on the 8th. I think he is pretty excited. He just spend the last two weeks working every day for Granny and Pappa. I think we are going to use the money to get him a laptop. I think he did a great job for them. Love you all ~~Mitzi

Miss Da lost her wisdom today ~~~~~

Image
at least 3 of them (that's all she had)..... Teeth that is......... Isn't she the cutest little chipmunk?! Couple of updates: 1. We decide to let Alex go to the art school. Decided to borrow against my 401k. At least it won't be losing any more money. We're scheduled to register him on Tuesday. 2. I didn't get the new position. They gave it to another girl who already works at Supervalu too. I used to work with her when I was in Application support. Took a little ego hit, but am not unhappy about it. I really like what I do and who I do it for. Love you all ~~Mitzi

Decision time

Congrats to Alex for getting accepted to that school. Apparently the art director really liked his work and they think he has potential. Duh, I've known that forever. Glad to see someone else recognizes it. Now the hard part. Coming up with the money. They are going to give him $1,500 in scholarship money, so that only leave $8,300 for me to come up with. I can make payments directly to them each month with no interest but they will be about $920.00 a month. Eck! That's almost a house payment! No of any part time jobs??? I guess I have some contemplating to do. Love you all ~~Mitzi

Family Reunion

Thursday evening and all day Friday I attended the Jones Family reunion hosted by Marilyn Jones Wadsworth. We gathered together in Nampa, Id at the Lion's park around 4:00pm. Some of the kids played kick ball and others played on the swings and slides. That evening we had sloppy joes and hot dogs, salad, chips and brownies for dinner. After dinner we put together a barefoot soccer game with was a blast. The most challenging part of the game was to keep from falling over the little scrappers that were playing with us. You'll see what I mean when you look at the pictures. Friday we started about 11:00am and had lunch of sandwiches. After lunch most of all the kids invaded the pool for the afternoon. The rest of us just sat around in the shade at the park and visted. Uncle Leroy had a personal history written by Leah, so some were reading that and talking about it. For dinner we had chicken, salad, chips, beans, watermelon. After dinner we got into our big circle and each of Ray

Random updates

Just wanted to do some random updates. Tori got her cast off a couple of weeks ago. So she is working on getting her range of motion back in her wrist. But she's ready to play soccer and keeps complaining about the fact that we aren't playing this session. Alex thinks things went well at the audition for the art school. They are going to be making their decisions tomorrow (Wed) and we should know by Friday if he has been accepted. Then I have to figure out how to pay for it. A couple of weeks ago I decided to apply for a different position at Supervalu. I had an interview on Monday. It's been a long time since I had an interview and was a little nervous. However I did know both people that I interviewed with and have worked with them on other projects. It's hard to get a feel for how it went when all the questions that they ask were went something like this: "What would your best friend say is your best/worst guality?", "Explain a difficult situat

Taking donations......

Image
If anyone one wants to contribute to the Lewis education fund, please feel free........... Alex has a friend that is going to this art school in Eagle, called Arts West. It is pretty expensive. He first brought up going last year and I told him there was noooo way he could go. Well, he has been hanging out with his friend Jeff and has started asking about going again. So, I told him that he would need to see if he can get some scholarships. They are having auditions for scholarship this Saturday and he has done all the leg work, scheduled his audition time, got all his art work together, wrote his 350 work vision statement, had me take his picture. So he seems very determined to go. So tomorrow at 3:40 is his audition. I have mixed emotions. I'm very glad to see him excited about school. But I'm not excited about having to come up with the money to pay for it. I wish him the best of luck tomorrow and I really hope it goes well for him. Good luck, Al...... We Love you and are v

Happy Birthday (not so) Baby boy ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Image
Wednesday - July 15th a special day. It was Alex's 16th birthday. My, how time flys..... I forced the anti-camera boy to let me take some pictures and since I don't get many, I decided to post them all. After we opened presents, Alex got to decide where we go for dinner. We went to Applebee's and had a nice dinner. Came back home and had DQ ice cake. (Alex's favorite). I made him pose with his sister............. I didn't think I got a smile from him so I made them do it again. Gave up trying to get smiles out of these two. They're thinking I'm crazy.... Maybe I am.... This is how I caught Alex spending his birthday when I got home from work. Believe it or not I got a laugh. It's rare what it does happen. We Love you, Al............... Hope you had a good day.

Excitement at work!

Image
Monday morning I was working away, when I noticed some people just hanging out outside my window. My desk sit by the windows that run along the front of the building. I was getting kind of annoyed that they were just standing out there. Well, after about 10 minutes, I noticed them starting to move around, kind of excited like, so I started watching out the window. Just so you don't think I wasn't working, I was on a conference call. In pulls the Kenny Chesney's Tour bus. They park the bus outside, so while I'm listening on the call, I watch to see if Kenny is actually going to visit our office. How exciting is that??????? As it turned out it was just his bus, but you could go on it. So I did, and stole a few pictures. It had two bathrooms, Two large flat screen television. It was all white leather interior. This is the bedroom, the bus driver was standing guard duty so that nobody would lay in "Kenny's Bed". He did say that Kenny on tours about 5 months

The 4th highlights

I had a great day yesterday with Family. I started out the morning going to breakfast with Salena's family, Steve and Shawna, it was with Salena's ward. Had French toast, sausage, hash browns, and watermelon. Cayton had fun climbing a the tree. After breakfast, some of us went to Falcon Crest to hit a bucket of balls. I haven't swung a golf club in years. It was fun but I feel it today. After golf, we met at Sharlene's for lunch. Hung out and visited. The little kids played in the kiddie pool. Left Sharlene's to go out to Ryan & Terri's for dinner and swimming. Go a drum solo from Zack, he is getting really good on the drums. I was impressed. Everyone but Tori, Shawna, Salena and I headed to the pool. The four of us stayed at Ryan's to plan our cruise for next year. Then we headed over to the pool. We actually had all the pools to ourselves. After swimming we drove up to Federal Way to find a place to watch the fireworks from, then we headed to Steve &
